The American Standard Design Award (ASDA) is a bathroom space design competition for design students in Asia Pacific. The competition offers a platform for students to put their theoretical knowledge into practice and is open to Year 2 or higher undergraduate architecture and interior design students.

First launched in 2015 as a one-time design competition, the inaugural competition invited participants from 4 markets – Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines. ASDA was relaunched in 2022, institutionalizing the award as part of our mission as a purposeful brand.

In order to participate in this competition, participants must be enrolled in a full-time Architecture or Interior Design undergraduate program as at 15 January 2026. The undergraduate program can be with any university or educational institution worldwide, but to take part in a country’s / region’s design competition, the participant must be residing in that country / region as at 15 January 2026. For the avoidance of doubt, a participant does not have to hold the nationality of the country’s design competition that they enter, but must be residing in that country as at 15 January 2026.

Design competitions will be held for Indochina (being Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar), Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

For 150 years, American Standard has been designing products inspired by life, transforming everyday routines into meaningful experiences. Bathrooms have come a long way from mere functional spaces to shared environments that enrich daily rituals and interactions.

As we celebrate this milestone, the ASDA 2026 Residential Bathroom Design Competition invites young designers to embrace this legacy by showing us how bathrooms of the future can address our evolving needs — a place where families bond, individuals find solace, and the most modest spaces become the backdrop for unforgettable memories.

The competition challenges participants to see beyond and embrace the potential of existing material and technology, creating designs that foster connection and comfort.
