THE UPTOWN SANITY
What is the inspiration for your design?
My inspiration for this design was to create easily accessible, functional, and aesthetically pleasing spaces. A home is a place most used and thus should be easy to maintain for the long run. Especially with work from home the usage of a residential washroom has exceeded. And since people are busy with work such as meetings and presentations without any house help the space needs to be easily accessible for the kids for everybody's convenience. These spaces no matter how personal always require to be presentable to assist the presence of guests and thus I wanted to design a space that could fit all these criteria.
Who is the target user and how does the design fulfill the need of the target user?
The target user for this project is a family of four members including two kids of age around 4 to 10 years. The space has pullout planks for these kids so that they can easily reach the basin height without any help, these planks can also be used for storage such as for towels, etc. in the future. The washroom has plenty of storage space specifically designed to declutter. The shower area has bench seating finished in terrazzo that adds to the beauty of the space.
How does the design fulfill the theme for the chosen category?
The theme for the residential washroom was to create a vibe that is warm personal yet classy and presentable. A washroom in a house is not just used by the members of the house but also by guests and thus the space should always look interesting, clean, and presentable. The use of printed floor tiles is to create that slight yet not too overpowering dramatic feel of an interesting design. The materials used in the space are easy to clean and maintain and thus make the design functional and fashionable.
How does the choice of products contribute to the purpose of the design?
The products selected are based on cost efficiency, durability, look and functionality and thus help keep the design accessible and evergreen
