What is the inspiration for your design?
In this mechanical world, people tend to forget themselves and rarely make time for themselves. Personal time and family time are highly important and a user mostly gets it while using restroom. It is thus essential to design a restroom on the basis of relaxation, and as a healing space and also a home within the home.
How does the design fulfill the need of the target users?
It focusses more on multi functional usage of spaces thus allowing all the generations to use it, a seating space can be used for
the extension of daily activities such as trimming beard, following skincare routine, reading newspaper and for so many other
functions therefore reducing the generation gap. The storage below the sink is quite adequate and accommodate all the users
needs (toys used during bath, toiletry kits, skin care essentials).
How does the design fulfill the design challenge?
The design challenge is addressed by critically examining the user anthropometry and requirements. Since it has to be multi generational, the standards are slightly adjusted according to the need of the user. An extended space is also provided and modern requirements are also addressed for all user types. Example: Provision of mobile storage in closet, newspaper holder and grab bars for older users.
How does the choice of products contribute to the purpose of the design?
The products used are from American Standards that are extremely advanced and are super easy to handle. The auto temperature mixers maintain the correct balance of hot and cold water based on user’s pre-set temperature. There is no longer need to waste time and precious water fiddling with the lever to achieve that perfect water temperature. The Studio S Tankless Toilet is sleek and modern, and is also it’s quiet. These products helps to enable the multi generational usage as everyone finds it easy to use.
