What is the inspiration for your design?
Our surroundings have an impact on how we live. Although every room in the house is significant, from the entryway to the kitchen, the bathroom is where many of our most intimate rituals take place. It's where we bathe and dress to show ourselves to the outside world, and it's also where we feel most calm and at ease. My inspiration mainly came from the idea of having a relaxing, personal bathroom that helps us unwind from stresses of modern day life. I took to Pinterest to see interesting designs of hotel bathrooms, such as some woody tones matched with a light colour. LED lights can conserve a higher amount of energy. Having a plant in the bathroom could also help to neutralise the space and increase the aesthetic appeal of the bathroom, along with other benefits such as purifying the air, prevents mould and benefits mental and emotional health.

Who is the target user and how does the design fulfill the need of the target user?
The main target audience for this bathroom design is for a family with young children and toddlers. I made sure the bathroom tile I used is of a high slip resistant properties, to prevent injury in this bathroom. To accommodate the children who cannot reach certain heights, a stepping stool is also provided, and when not in use, it can be tucked away neatly, underneath the vanity counter. As I would prefer the bathroom to be brightly lit, I used a slightly brighter colour porcelain tile for the wall, some woody tones and white lights to create a more peaceful and tranquil ambience. For the flooring, I used a slightly interesting flooring in the shower area, a teak wood shower floor that would cover the whole shower area, with the white bathtub sitting on top, and porcelain tile in a dark tone to create a certain contrast.

How does the design fulfill the theme for the chosen category?
In Singapore, due to urbanisation and limited land space, housing space are decreasing. To house a family of 4 to 5 people, we have to conduct space planning that is effective to different target users. This bathroom which I have designed, has storage space, enough to store bathroom necesseties such as toilet paper and towels etc. Besides, there is also a drawer in the vanity for the users to store their different appliances such as hair curlers for the women and shavers etc for the men. As for the mirror, it is a multifunctional cabinet that can allow the users to store and at the same time conceal their items behind the mirror. Having a full length mirror for the vanity is also beneficial, during the day, sunlight can enter the space and brightens up the space and minimises the use of the lights, reducing the electrical power usage.

How does the choice of products contribute to the purpose of the design?
I choose the rectangular vessel basin from the Acacia Evolution collection as it prevents splashes. With strong water pressure, the large surface area of the basin prevents water from splashing over the vanity counter and the floor. The Acacia Evolution One Piece Toilet has double vortex for easy cleaning, proguard, which is antibacterial on the seat, cover and push button, they are especially useful in this Covid-19 pandemic period. As for the bathtub, I have chosen the free standing bathtub from the Acacia Evolution collection. The main reason I have chosen this bathtub is because the bath and shower mixer from the same collection can be mounted on the bathtub. The faucets provides up to 30% energy saving, and this is especially beneficial towards the elderly. They are also equipped with click technology that prevents water wastage. These are especially beneficial towards the environment, creating a sustainable environment.
